Getting Started Guides

Practical walkthroughs for the most common Guildhall workflows: creating events, joining communities, managing stores, and getting timezone/calendar behavior right.

Create Your First Event

Create Your First Event

Use this guide if you are hosting a one-time or recurring game night.

1. Open the event wizard

  • Go to My Events.
  • Click Create Event.
  • The wizard walks through Basics, Access, Schedule, and Review.

2. Fill in the basics

  • Add a clear title such as "Friday Commander Night".
  • Add a short description with format, skill level, and what to bring.
  • Choose event type: in_person or online.
  • Set recurrence: none, weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
  • Optionally select a featured game from the catalog.

3. Configure access and visibility

  • Audience public: discoverable in Find Events.
  • Audience guild: only members of the selected guild can join.
  • Set conversation and photo visibility based on who should see event activity.
  • If you run a store plan, optionally associate the event with your store profile.

4. Set the schedule carefully

  • Pick Event Timezone before entering dates and times.
  • Enter start and end in the local wall time for the event.
  • For recurring events, set an optional recurrence end date.
  • Add location details or a meeting URL, depending on event type.
  • Set capacity and optional ticket values if you use paid attendance.

5. Publish and manage

  • Save the event from the review step.
  • Use My Events to switch between Calendar and List.
  • Open the event detail page to monitor RSVPs, messages, photos, and attendance.
  • Use instance controls when one date in a recurring series needs a different status or summary.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Entering times before setting the correct timezone.
  • Publishing without a real address or meeting link.
  • Choosing guild-only audience without selecting the target guild.
  • Forgetting ZIP code on in-person public events, which reduces local discovery quality.
